This begins with the correct identification of all drugs, some with expiry dates and serial numbers, and continues with the unique identification of all medical devices, healthcare locations and documents, as well as the patients and caregivers.

 

The barcodes used in this sector include EAN and UPC, ITF-14 and GS1-128 symbols, as well as GS1 DataBar Stacked and the two-dimensional matrix symbol GS1 DataMatrix, a special version of Data Matrix.
